Curtis M. Singleton is a retired law enforcement executive, U.S. Army National Guard veteran, and public safety professional with more than 25 years of experience serving communities across South Carolina. Throughout his career, Curtis M. Singleton has demonstrated a commitment to leadership, accountability, and building strong relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
Curtis M. Singleton began his career in public service with the United States Army National Guard, where he served as an Automated Logistics Specialist and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his military service, Curtis M. Singleton was responsible for logistics operations, security functions, and mission support, earning multiple commendations, including the Army Achievement Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
Following his military service, Curtis M. Singleton built a distinguished career in law
enforcement, beginning with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, where he served in a leadership role overseeing correctional operations, staff supervision, and inmate management. He later continued his service with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, where he held supervisory roles focused on safety, investigations, and personnel management.
Curtis M. Singleton went on to serve with the Forest Acres Police Department as a Criminal Investigations Detective, where he investigated serious criminal offenses including violent crimes, conducted interviews, collected forensic evidence, and worked closely with the judicial system to support successful case outcomes. His work required a deep understanding of legal procedures, attention to detail, and strong investigative skills.
In a senior leadership capacity, Curtis M. Singleton served as Chief of Staff for the Chester Police Department, where he oversaw departmental operations, managed a multi-million-dollar budget, and led initiatives related to recruitment, training, and organizational development. His leadership focused on improving operational efficiency, strengthening internal processes, and enhancing community engagement.
In addition to his operational leadership, Curtis M. Singleton has extensive experience in human resources, training, and organizational management. He has supervised teams, conducted hiring and background investigations, developed training programs, and implemented policies that support both accountability and professional growth.
Curtis M. Singleton also contributed to education as an Adjunct Criminal Justice Instructor, where he helped prepare students for careers in the criminal justice field by teaching core principles, ethics, and practical applications of the law.
