Chief Curtis Singleton, also known as Curtis M. Singleton, was recognized as a 2026 Heroes Unite Community Impact Award Honoree during the Heroes Unite celebration hosted by the Range Fore Hope Foundation in Columbia, South Carolina.

The Heroes Unite event was created to honor local first responders, military personnel, veterans, and community leaders whose service reflects sacrifice, leadership, and a continued commitment to strengthening the lives of others. The Range Fore Hope Foundation describes the event as a community celebration and recognition ceremony honoring first responders and members of the military community. The event also brings families, vendors, community resources, and local supporters together in one space.

For Chief Singleton, the recognition reflects a lifetime of service that began in the military and continued through law enforcement, public safety leadership, disability advocacy, civic engagement, and mentorship.

Curtis M. Singleton is a combat veteran who served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He later continued his public service through a long law enforcement career, retiring after more than 25 years of service. His career included work in corrections, public safety, investigations, leadership, and police administration, including service as a Chief of Police.

Today, Chief Singleton continues to serve South Carolina through advocacy work focused on protecting the rights, safety, and dignity of individuals with disabilities. His work reflects a continued commitment to vulnerable populations, public accountability, community engagement, and service beyond title or position.

The Range Fore Hope Foundation is a Columbia-based organization with a mission centered on community-driven, veteran-focused work. The foundation states that its work helps veterans heal through golf and community initiatives. Its programs include golf tournaments, free golf clinics, veteran-focused outreach, and community events designed to promote healing, connection, and personal growth.

Heroes Unite aligns with that mission by recognizing people whose lives demonstrate service to others. According to local media coverage, the 2026 Heroes Unite event was scheduled for May 30, 2026, at The Meeting Place Church in Columbia, South Carolina, and was designed to honor first responders and military personnel. Organizers described the event as a way to give back to those who sacrifice in service to their communities.

Chief Singleton’s recognition as a Community Impact Award Honoree connects directly with the values represented by the event: service, resilience, sacrifice, leadership, and community responsibility.

In addition to the Heroes Unite recognition, the photos from the event show Chief Singleton receiving a certificate and award, along with a featured honoree profile identifying him as:

The honoree profile highlights his military background, law enforcement service, public service, educational accomplishments, advocacy work, and ongoing involvement in civic and community leadership.

The Range Fore Hope Foundation’s broader work also includes adaptive golf and veteran support. In 2025, WIS reported that the Palmetto State Adaptive Golf Open, connected to Range Fore Hope, brought adaptive athletes from across the country to South Carolina and helped expand opportunities for veterans and disabled athletes.

This connection between veterans, adaptive recreation, healing, and community service makes the Heroes Unite recognition especially meaningful. It is not simply an award ceremony. It is part of a larger effort to recognize people who continue serving after the uniform, after the badge, and beyond traditional roles.

For Curtis M. Singleton, the honor represents another chapter in a life centered on service. From military duty to law enforcement leadership, from disability advocacy to mentoring youth and supporting civic engagement, Chief Singleton continues to demonstrate that public service does not end with retirement.

It continues through presence, purpose, and impact.
